Black Books (2000–2004) is the cult Channel 4 sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. Bernard Black runs a tiny London bookshop and despises exactly one thing about it: customers. He has no intention of selling anything, locks up whenever he feels like it, and drinks wine by the bottle.

Bernard, played by Dylan Moran, is rude, lazy and brilliantly venomous. His gentle assistant Manny (Bill Bailey) absorbs endless abuse simply for existing, while neighbor Fran (Tamsin Greig) drifts in to escape her own aimless life. The three of them drink, bicker, wreck everything they touch, and cling to each other harder than any of them will admit. It runs just three short series of six episodes each.

Co-created by Moran and Graham Linehan of The IT Crowd, the show carries that same dry, absurdist British cruelty. The comedy lives in character and quotable dialogue rather than plot.
