Synopsis
Cat People (1982) is Paul Schrader's erotic horror film, free to watch online on iFILM. Irena Gallier arrives in New Orleans to reconnect with a brother she barely knows, only to learn that an old curse runs in the family.
Nastassja Kinski plays Irena; Malcolm McDowell is her preacher sibling, Paul. The secret is grim and simple — arousal turns them into predatory cats, and someone ends up torn apart by morning. As Irena falls for zoo curator Oliver (John Heard), a captured black panther paces its cage nearby. Desire and death are wired together here, and Paul knows it before she does.
Schrader's loose remake of the 1942 Val Lewton classic trades suggestion for skin and slow Louisiana heat. Giorgio Moroder scored it, and that Bowie title track alone is reason enough to press play.
