Helix (Seasons 1–2)

Helix (2014) is a sci-fi thriller series you can watch online on iFILM. A team of CDC virologists flies into a classified Arctic research base where something has thawed out of the ice and started turning people into something else.

Dr. Alan Farragut, played by Billy Campbell, leads the response and walks straight into a personal nightmare: his infected brother is a patient, his ex-wife is on the team, and the base director clearly knows more about the outbreak than he admits. The pathogen behaves nothing like a normal virus. Victims leak black ooze and hunt in packs, and the deeper the team goes, the less it's about containment and the more it's about what was really being built behind the sealed Level R doors. Hiroyuki Sanada and Jeri Ryan round out the cast.

Created by Cameron Porter and produced by Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore, the show is claustrophobic body-horror dressed in sterile white corridors, with a cheery pop soundtrack laid over the carnage.
