Synopsis
Palermo Shooting (2008) is a German-Italian drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Wim Wenders and led by Campino, frontman of Die Toten Hosen, alongside Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Dennis Hopper.
Finn is a Düsseldorf photographer who runs on adrenaline — commercial shoots, late nights, no pause. A near-miss car accident sends him to Sicily to decompress. In Palermo he meets Flavia, a painter, and something long dormant stirs. Then the city starts doing something strange: the faces in old church frescoes seem to follow him through the viewfinder.
Wenders shapes the film as a slow meditation on death and seeing, and Hopper turns up as Death itself. Campino — a rock singer making his feature lead debut — handles the role with more weight than you'd expect. The film competed in the main selection at Cannes 2008.
