Let the Right One In

Let the Right One In (Låt den rätte komma in, 2008) is a Swedish horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Twelve-year-old Oskar lives with his mother in a bleak suburb outside Stockholm, gets bullied at school, and stabs a tree in the courtyard at night, rehearsing a revenge he never dares carry out.

In the dead of winter, a girl named Eli moves into the next apartment with an older man. She only comes outside after dark, walks barefoot in the snow without flinching, and a tentative friendship grows between her and Oskar, tapped out in Morse code through the wall. Then drained bodies start turning up around town, and Oskar begins to understand what his new neighbor really is. Eli is twelve. She has been twelve for more than two hundred years.

Directed by Tomas Alfredson from John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel — Lindqvist wrote the screenplay himself — the film is less about fangs than about loneliness, first love, and a Nordic cold that seeps off the screen.
