Night of the Creeps

Night of the Creeps (1986) is Fred Dekker's horror-comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. Alien slug parasites infest a college campus and turn students into zombies, all thanks to two hapless fraternity pledges.

The setup reaches back to 1959: a crashed alien experiment gets frozen, and decades later two freshmen accidentally thaw the corpse. Out wriggle the creeps — squirming things that dive down your throat and drive the body from inside. Chris (Jason Lively) and his crutch-bound buddy (Steve Marshall) have one ally: washed-up cop Ray Cameron, played by Tom Atkins with a shotgun and a one-liner for every occasion.

The whole thing is a love letter to B-movie horror, with characters named after Romero, Carpenter and Cronenberg, gallons of goo, and humor as dry as gunpowder. Dekker went on to make The Monster Squad, and you can already see his fingerprints here. A perfect pick for old-school horror fans who care more about attitude than scares.
