Synopsis
The Assignment (2016) is Walter Hill's pulpy crime thriller, free to watch online on iFILM. Contract killer Frank Kitchen takes one more job, walks into a setup, and wakes from surgery in a body that isn't his, rebuilt by a doctor with a personal grudge.
The surgeon is Rachel Kay (Sigourney Weaver), a cold, well-read, clearly unwell woman avenging her dead brother in the cruelest way she can devise. Now Frank, played by Michelle Rodriguez, tracks down everyone who sold him out, same guns and same fury, only the body has changed. Hill frames the whole thing like a noir comic book, complete with chapter breaks, voiceover, and a straitjacketed Weaver interrogation that holds the plot together.
The movie cheerfully courts bad taste and reaches for every B-movie trick it can. Weaver plays the villain with obvious relish, and she alone is reason enough to hit play. This is a hard, lean, unapologetic revenge picture that knows exactly what it is. Stream The Assignment (2016) online on iFILM.
