The catch is Higgins, the estate's stiff British majordomo, who guards the rules and his Dobermans with equal zeal. Backing Magnum up are his old service buddies: chopper pilot T.C. and bar owner Rick. Each week brings a fresh job — a missing person, a blackmail scheme, a debt that traces back to the war.

Created by Donald Bellisario, the show paired light-touch detective work with Hawaiian scenery, and Selleck's mustache and aloha shirt turned him into an Eighties TV icon who took home an Emmy for the role.
