Synopsis

The Little Shop of Horrors (1960) is Roger Corman's black horror comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. A shoestring cult classic, famously knocked out in about two days of shooting. A clumsy clerk at a run-down skid row flower shop manages to raise a plant unlike anything in the catalog.

Seymour Krelborn worships his coworker Audrey and dreams of being somebody. His odd little sprout does pull crowds into the failing shop, until the day it starts talking back and demanding fresh meat. The more Seymour feeds his "Audrey Jr.," the bigger it swells and the louder it howls "Feed me!" A very young Jack Nicholson turns up in a tiny role as a masochistic dental patient, years before stardom, and the scene became a favorite. He nearly walks off with the whole picture.

This cheap quickie later inspired the hit Broadway musical and its 1986 film version. The humor is absurd and proudly low-rent, the effects are cardboard, and the charm is real. It is a movie for anyone who loves retro trash with a heartbeat over polished horror. Stream The Little Shop of Horrors (1960) online on iFILM.
