Synopsis
Shaun of the Dead (2004) is a British zom-rom-com you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Edgar Wright. Simon Pegg plays Shaun, a directionless thirty-year-old London electronics clerk whose girlfriend just dumped him, whose boss doesn't respect him, and whose flatmate Ed (Nick Frost) spends every waking hour on the sofa gaming.
Then the dead start walking. Shaun doesn't notice for an embarrassingly long time — he's too busy replaying yesterday's argument in his head. Once it clicks, he grabs a cricket bat, devises a two-step plan (collect Mum, get Liz back), and sets the pub as the rendezvous point for riding out the end of the world. Wright and Pegg co-wrote the script loaded with George Romero references, but the zombies are really just the pressure that forces Shaun to finally grow up. Bill Nighy and Martin Freeman round out the cast in sharp supporting turns.
Made for roughly £6 million by Big Talk Productions, the film launched what became known as the Cornetto Trilogy and is still the benchmark for the horror-comedy hybrid. Stream Shaun of the Dead (2004) on iFILM.
