D-Tox

D-Tox (2002) is a crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, with Sylvester Stallone in a rare downbeat lead. He plays FBI agent Jake Malloy, who hunts a serial killer until a personal loss sends him spiraling into the bottle.

Trying to dry out, Jake checks into a remote rehab clinic built for cops who cracked under the job. It sits deep in the Wyoming snow, miles from anyone. Then the bodies start. Someone inside is picking off the patients one by one, a blizzard kills the phone lines, and the method looks horribly familiar to Jake. Director Jim Gillespie, fresh off I Know What You Did Last Summer, basically drops a slasher into a frozen locked-room setup.

The cast outclasses the script: Tom Berenger, Charles S. Dutton, Robert Patrick, Sean Patrick Flanery and Dina Meyer all turn up. Years of re-editing left the plot full of seams and unanswered questions. Still, if you like cold "one of us is the killer" thrillers in the vein of The Thing, the dread holds up.
