The Rover

The Rover (2014) is a bleak crime thriller from David Michôd you can watch online on iFILM. Eric, a hollow-eyed drifter, owns almost nothing — so when a gang steals his car, he sets off to take it back at any cost.

Guy Pearce plays Eric with a flat, frightening calm, chasing the thieves across scorched country. Along the way he picks up Rey, the wounded, slow-witted brother one of them left for dead. Robert Pattinson plays him twitchy and stammering, far from his usual roles, and the two strangers fall into a tense, unreliable partnership.

Michôd isn't after action so much as a slow parable about what's left of a man once everything has been taken from him. Spare dialogue, heat, dust, and sudden bursts of violence.
