Outrage (2010), Takeshi Kitano's Japanese crime drama, is available to watch online on iFILM. Rival yakuza clans jockey for their godfather's favor, and a single wrong move tips the whole hierarchy into open war.

Veteran gangster Otomo, played by Kitano himself, is a blade in someone else's hand: the bosses set their crews against each other behind hollow oaths of loyalty. Tattoos and severed fingers belong to an older era now, as a slicker generation muscles into finance and politics. Betrayal here is not hot-blooded but coldly calculated, and every fresh corpse only nudges the pieces around the board. Kippei Shiina, Ryo Kase and Tomokazu Miura round out the cast.

Kitano shoots the violence flat and matter-of-fact, stripping away any gangster-movie glamour; the bursts of brutality are brief and genuinely ugly.
