Sightseers

Sightseers (2012) is a British black comedy with a nasty criminal streak, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Ben Wheatley directs from a script written by its two stars, Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, who carry the whole thing.

Tina and Chris look like the dullest couple alive. He proudly takes her on a caravan tour of northern England's attractions — a tram museum, a pencil factory, some prehistoric stones — the quiet holiday of two crashing bores. The catch: almost everything sets Chris off. A litterbug, a rude stranger, somebody showing off, and the offender may not survive to the next campsite. Meek-seeming Tina, meanwhile, develops a worrying taste for it. Their romantic getaway curdles into a string of casually staged killings.

The humor runs bone-dry and deeply awkward, the camera clocking each death with the same flat calm it gives the rolling countryside.
