About

Synopsis

Tigerland (2000) is Joel Schumacher's war drama, available to watch online on iFILM. It's the fall of 1971 at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where recruits face one last brutal training ground before Vietnam, a swampy stretch nicknamed Tigerland.

Into this company comes Private Roland Bozz (Colin Farrell), insolent, hard to break and far too clever to keep his mouth shut. He knows the regulations better than the drill sergeants and has a knack for getting fellow recruits discharged on technicalities, which enrages his superiors and draws the whole barracks toward him. His friend Jim Paxton (Matthew Davis) enlisted on purpose, hoping to write about the war. Between the drills, the humiliation and the live rounds, the real question is who cracks first.

Shot handheld on grainy 16mm film for next to nothing, this was the breakout role that put Farrell on the map and still ranks among Schumacher's finest work. It's a raw, near-documentary look at the army with not a single battle scene, aimed at viewers who care about the men rather than the explosions. Stream Tigerland (2000) online on iFILM.
