Synopsis
Everything Must Go (2011) is a low-key comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Dan Rush. In a single afternoon, Nick loses his sales job and comes home to find the locks changed and everything he owns dumped on the front lawn.
So he stays put. Nick sets up a recliner among his belongings and turns the mess into a four-day yard sale, partly to survive, partly because he has nowhere else to go. Will Ferrell drops the loud comedy here and plays a relapsing alcoholic sorting through his own life one object at a time. A neighborhood kid (C.J. Wallace) signs on as his sales assistant, a pregnant new neighbor across the street (Rebecca Hall) keeps an eye on him, and an old classmate forces him to look back at who he used to be.
Rush adapted the film from Raymond Carver's tiny short story "Why Don't You Dance?", and the spare, quiet rhythm shows it. Not much happens, and that's the point. This one is for viewers who like understated character films about grown men hitting bottom and the slow climb back. Stream Everything Must Go (2011) online on iFILM.
