Synopsis
Fosse/Verdon (2019) is a biographical limited series you can watch online on iFILM. Across eight episodes it traces the two decades that bound choreographer Bob Fosse to dancer Gwen Verdon — the couple who rewrote the grammar of the American musical.
He staged Cabaret, Chicago and Sweet Charity, and once collected an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy almost in the same stretch. She was the finest dancer on Broadway, quietly fixing every number he built while his name took the credit. Behind the curtain it was messier — his affairs, her sacrifices, the pills, the jealousy, the work neither of them could put down. The series refuses to run in a straight line; it cuts through time like the memory reel of a dying director.
Sam Rockwell plays Bob and Michelle Williams plays Gwen, and it's her performance that landed the show its lead-actress Emmy. The project comes from Thomas Kail and Lin-Manuel Miranda, adapted from Sam Wasson's biography. It's for anyone drawn to the Broadway backstage and stories about what talent costs.
