Synopsis
Thirteen-year-old Paul was born with hypertrichosis, his face and body covered in thick hair, so every trip outside becomes an ordeal. The True Adventures of Wolfboy (2019) is Martin Krejčí's coming-of-age drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. On his birthday Paul finds a letter from the mother who vanished years ago and runs away from home to track her down.
The road takes him through a carnival sideshow, where its cruel owner Mr. Silk wants to turn the boy into an attraction, toward a friend named Aristiana and encounters that reshape him more than any mirror ever could. Jaeden Martell plays Paul as a kid slowly learning to meet people's eyes instead of hiding his face. The cast also includes John Turturro, Chloë Sevigny, Eve Hewson and Chris Messina.
It's a small, fable-like road movie about self-acceptance that handles its "different" hero without pity or preaching. Best for viewers who lean toward quiet indie growing-up stories over loud teen melodrama. Stream The True Adventures of Wolfboy (2019) online on iFILM.
