Synopsis
Bad Education (La mala educación, 2004) is Pedro Almodóvar's noir-tinged drama you can watch online on iFILM. Filmmaker Enrique Goded is hunting for a story when a man claiming to be his boyhood friend Ignacio walks in, carrying a semi-autobiographical script about the years they spent at a Catholic boarding school.
The pages drag Enrique back into the past: the dormitories, a predatory priest named Father Manolo, and a forbidden first love between two boys. But the visitor insists on being called Ángel, and the deeper Enrique reads, the less he trusts who is actually sitting across from him. The film keeps folding in on itself — a movie within a movie, memory layered over deception, performer over part. Gael García Bernal plays several faces of one long con, in one of his boldest turns.
Almodóvar nursed this project for nearly a decade, threading his own preoccupations through the crime story: religion, desire, and cinema as a way to rewrite pain. Sharp and sensual, it's made for viewers ready for slippery characters and a plot that refuses solid ground. Stream Bad Education (2004) online on iFILM.
