The Blob

Teenagers Steve and Jane are the first to spot it, watching the ooze swallow a man whole. Meanwhile the creature keeps growing, eventually the size of a building, oozing toward the heart of their small Pennsylvania town. A very young Steve McQueen takes the lead here, in one of his earliest notable roles before stardom found him.

Director Irvin Yeaworth delivered the definitive drive-in monster picture of the 1950s, in lurid color and with a surprising amount of charm.
