Shinjuku Triad Society

Shinjuku Triad Society (新宿黒社会, 1995) — watch online on iFILM — is the opening entry in Takashi Miike's "Black Society" trilogy. Detective Tatsuhito, played by Kippei Shiina, chases Chinese gang boss Wang through Shinjuku's criminal underground and on to Taiwan, using methods that make the distinction between cop and criminal hard to maintain.

Made in 1995 before Miike was known outside Japan, this is the film that put his voice on tape: unsparing, abrasive, shot with a rough energy that resists any kind of comfort.
