Synopsis
American Mary (2013) is a Canadian body-horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Medical student Mary Mason is drowning in tuition debt when a desperate cash job pulls her into the underground world of extreme body modification.
Her surgical skill is suddenly in demand where ordinary clinics refuse to operate, and Mary starts reshaping clients who want to live as dolls, grow horns, or fuse themselves to a partner. The money comes fast. So does a betrayal from people she trusted, and with it a cold appetite for revenge by scalpel. Katharine Isabelle carries the whole picture, taking Mary from anxious top student to unflinching butcher without ever losing the audience's sympathy.
Writer-directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, identical twins, financed the film themselves and cameo as a pair of German clients. It became a cult favorite among genre fans and the body-mod community for good reason: this is sharp, stylish, quietly feminist horror that earns its edge through calm, deliberate cruelty rather than cheap scares.
