Synopsis
In the Name of a Prank (2022) is a Russian comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Viktor Khorinyak stars as Dima, a YouTube prankster who films a stunt inside a working church to chase clicks.
The video blows up the wrong way. Outraged believers want him punished, the police open a case, and Dima needs to vanish fast. His hiding spot is the last place anyone would look: a remote provincial monastery, where he passes himself off as a novice under a childhood friend's name. A month with no phone, no audience, no easy lies — just monks, an unbending daily routine, and an abbot who sees right through him. Taisiya Vilkova, Aglaya Tarasova, Tatyana Orlova and Yuri Kuznetsov round out the cast.
Directed by Vladimir Kott, it plays as a gentle fish-out-of-water tale about a hollow showman slowly learning to listen. The humor is warm rather than mocking, and the monastery characters feel real.
