Ten-year-old Timur spends summer at his grandfather Korney's place, finds a worn copy of Arkady Gaidar's 1940 novel Timur and His Team in the barn, and decides to do what the book describes: build a secret squad that quietly helps the neighbours who need it. Shot without spectacle or special effects, the film is really about what happens when a child takes a book's idea seriously rather than just reading it.
