The self-appointed investigator is Nadezhda Nosova, played by Anna Ukolova: building supervisor, mother of two, and someone constitutionally incapable of minding her own business. Her reluctant partner is her younger son Artyom. As they dig through the neighbours' secrets and long-buried grudges, the trail leads somewhere uncomfortably close to home — straight to Nadezhda's own elder son Denis.
