Synopsis
Hornblower: The Duchess and the Devil (1999) is the third British TV film in the Hornblower series — watch it online on iFILM. Ioan Gruffudd returns as Acting Lieutenant Horatio Hornblower, assigned to escort a mysterious aristocrat from Gibraltar back to England through waters thick with enemy ships.
The mission falls apart fast. Spanish forces capture his vessel, the crew ends up in a prison hulk, and the Duchess shows little sign of distress — which raises its own questions. Director Andrew Grieve keeps the period atmosphere tight; Robert Lindsay's Captain Pellew and Jamie Bamber's Archie Kennedy anchor the story for those who followed the earlier installments.
