Synopsis
The Calcium Kid (2004) is a British boxing comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Alex De Rakoff. Orlando Bloom plays Jimmy Connelly, a milkman whose years of drinking pints of the stuff have left him with an unexpectedly powerful punch. One afternoon at the local gym, he puts Britain's top world title contender flat on the floor and knocks him clean out of the upcoming championship fight.
Which means Jimmy is now the replacement challenger. No training arc, no career buildup — just a regular bloke dropped onto the world stage, with Omid Djalili, Michael Peña, Tamer Hassan and Billie Piper doing their best as the team that somehow has to get him ready. The film plays the absurdity very straight, which is precisely where the comedy lives.
