Synopsis
Cars of the Revolution (Devrim Arabaları, 2008) is a Turkish historical drama you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1961: President Cemal Gürsel hands the state railway authority TCDD a task that has nothing to do with railways — build a domestically manufactured car in 130 days, ready to roll at the Republic Day parade in Ankara.
Twenty-three engineers take it on. Shortages, political interference, an unmovable deadline. Director Tolga Örnek keeps the focus on the people rather than the machinery: careers quietly unravelling, personal lives on hold, and a shared conviction that the project matters more than the cost. Halit Ergenç, Haluk Bilginer and Taner Birsel lead the cast.
The car they built was named Devrim — Revolution. Barely known outside Turkey, this is the story of what it took to make it. Watch Cars of the Revolution online on iFILM.
