About
Synopsis
My Winnipeg (2008) is a Canadian docu-fantasy by Guy Maddin — watch it online on iFILM. Maddin turns his camera on Winnipeg, the frost-locked dead centre of North America, weaving childhood memory, civic mythology and staged domestic scenes until the line between fact and invention dissolves.
Ann Savage plays the director's mother in fabricated household episodes set against archival footage and hypnotic voice-over. Snowed-in streets, the ghosts of demolished arenas, and a mother who can never quite be left behind. Equal parts confession, civic elegy and formal puzzle — Maddin's most accessible film, and probably his strangest. Watch My Winnipeg online on iFILM.
