Synopsis

Brasília, 1980s. Eduardo meets Monica at a party through a chain of small coincidences. He drifts; she plans. He listens to rock; she lives in an entirely different register. They have almost nothing in common, and they can't stop coming back to each other. The story unfolds across years — breakups, reunions, the ways people change and the ways they don't.
The film is built around "Eduardo e Mônica" (1986), the Legião Urbana song by Renato Russo that became one of Brazil's most enduring love songs. Sampaio expands three minutes into two hours without losing the original's off-balance warmth — the feeling that this shouldn't work but somehow does.
