Love

Love (Kjærlighet, 2024) is Dag Johan Haugerud's talky Norwegian drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Marianne, a doctor, and Tor, a nurse, have both quietly written romance out of their lives.

They meet on a ferry across the Oslo fjord. Tor makes no secret of wanting casual encounters, and he says so without guilt or performance. Marianne listens, then starts to wonder whether intimacy without commitment or shame might not be a betrayal of herself but simply another way to live. There's barely a plot in the usual sense — just people, the city, ferry decks, and honest conversations about what each of them actually wants.

This is the middle chapter of Haugerud's trilogy, sitting between Sex and Dreams, and it premiered in Venice. Andrea Bræin Hovig leads it calmly, like a grown-up, with no melodrama in sight.
