Synopsis
Otto – The Movie (Otto – Der Film, 1985) is a West German comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Co-directed by Xaver Schwarzenberger and Otto Waalkes himself, it brings to the screen a character Waalkes had spent years developing in live shows and on television.
Otto from East Frisia arrives in Hamburg with two goals: escape a loan shark and win over his love interest Silvia. He achieves neither without considerable collateral damage. By the mid-1980s Waalkes was the most recognizable comedian in West Germany, known for his bumbling, good-natured East Frisian persona, and this feature let millions of his existing fans finally see him in a proper film.
