Murderers (Dusheguby, 2021) is a Russian crime detective series you can watch online on iFILM. The summer of 1984, a backwater town near Vitebsk. A truck carrying prisoners and their traffic-police escort vanishes on a forest road, and where the missing men should be, searchers find the body of a young woman instead.

The case lands on local detective Mikhail Shakhnovich, and Minsk sends investigator Leonid Ipatiev to assist. The outsider soon grasps how the regional police really run: arrest quotas, beaten confessions, convenient cases filed in place of real ones. Shakhnovich grabs whoever is nearest just to clear the paperwork, while more women keep turning up dead. Sergey Marin and Zoya Berber lead the cast, with David Tkebuchava directing.

The story draws on a real Vitebsk case that dragged on for years. What grips here is less the killer than the portrait of a machine that refused for ages to admit a serial murderer was at work.
