Synopsis
1000 Ways to Die (2009), Season 1 is the Spike docu-comedy you can watch online on iFILM — ten episodes, each stitched together from a handful of bizarre, true-ish deaths.
The format is simple and merciless. A drunk man topples onto a rattlesnake. A worker is buried under three tons of sand. Someone freezes to death locked in a mob meat locker. Between the staged scenes, forensic experts, pathologists, toxicologists and herpetologists explain, very calmly, exactly what the body did to give out. Ron Perlman narrates the whole thing in a deadpan that treats every idiotic demise like a nature documentary.
This first season lays down the formula the show ran with for years: real physiology, a pinch of Darwinism, and re-enactments played for grim laughs. Good for fans of dark humor and pop science with zero reverence. Stream 1000 Ways to Die Season 1 online on iFILM.
