Freestyle

Freestyle (En roue libre, 2022) is a French tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. One morning Louise, 45, simply can't get out of her car — sweating, heart pounding, pinned to the driver's seat by a panic attack out of nowhere.

Then it gets stranger. While she's frozen at the wheel, a young man jumps in to steal the car, with her still inside. Neither one can quite ditch the other, so the two strangers end up rolling through a road trip nobody signed up for: the woman dogged by bad luck and the kid who attracts trouble wherever he goes. Marina Foïs plays the anxiety straight, never for laughs; Benjamin Voisin is her reluctant hijacker.

Director Didier Barcelo keeps one wheel in comedy and the other in a quiet drama about a person stuck — and not only in traffic. It's a lean 89 minutes with a warm ending that skips the sugar.
