Synopsis
Avgust (2025) is a Russian wartime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Set in the forests of western Belarus in the summer of 1944, the film follows Soviet military counterintelligence officers as they hunt enemy sabotage units left operating behind the advancing front. Directed by Nikita Vysotsky and Ilya Lebedev, with Sergei Bezrukov, Nikita Kologrivy, Pavel Tabakov and Roman Madyanov leading the cast.
The Red Army's westward push cannot afford a strike from behind — German stay-behind teams are somewhere in the forest with orders to cut supply lines at the worst possible moment. The officers sent to stop them work in near silence: no uniforms on the other side, no obvious targets, only the pressure of knowing an attack is coming and not knowing when. The tagline, "Our true enemies are silent," puts it plainly.
At 138 minutes, the film earns its length. Vysotsky and Lebedev are less interested in battlefield scale than in the procedural weight of a counterintelligence manhunt — the patience, the dead ends, the cost of a single wrong call. Watch Avgust (2025) online on iFILM.
