Law of Tehran

Law of Tehran (متری شش و نیم, 2019) is Saeed Roustaee's gripping Iranian crime drama, available to watch online on iFILM. It plays out on the streets of Tehran, where addiction has swallowed millions of lives.

Samad (Peyman Maadi) is a narcotics officer who's run out of patience for the lies and games dealers throw at him. For years he has chased an elusive kingpin, Nasser Khakzad (Navid Mohammadzadeh), through overcrowded prisons and slums, using rough, legally questionable methods alongside his partner Hamid. When the arrest and a death sentence finally come, they bring no relief — the closer Samad gets to his target, the harder it becomes to tell the hunter from another victim of a broken system.

Roustaee refuses to moralize; he simply shows the machine that grinds up dealers and the cops chasing them alike. The final cell-block exchange between Samad and Nasser ranks among the most powerful scenes in recent Iranian cinema.
