Meet the Patels (2014) — watch online on iFILM, a documentary comedy co-directed by siblings Ravi and Geeta Patel. Ravi, turning 30, has just broken up with his American girlfriend. She was perfect by every measure except the one his parents care about most: she isn't Indian, and her last name isn't Patel. So Ravi goes looking — with his mother's spreadsheet of candidates, a Patel convention in New Jersey, and a trip to wedding season in India.

Geeta films the whole thing. That's what makes it work: the camera is inside the family, not pointed at it. The film is genuinely funny about the gap between immigrant-parent expectations and what their kids actually want, and honest enough to sit with the parts that aren't funny at all.
