Synopsis
Paris, je t'aime (2006) is an anthology about love you can watch online on iFILM. Eighteen short films, roughly one per arrondissement of the French capital, each handed to a different filmmaker.
The directors include the Coen brothers, Gus Van Sant, Alfonso Cuaron, Wes Craven, Tom Tykwer and Alexander Payne. The cast is just as crowded: Natalie Portman, Juliette Binoche, Steve Buscemi, Willem Dafoe, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ben Gazzara. The moods swing hard. A mime courts a co-worker in a graveyard. A husband arrives to ask for a divorce, only to learn his wife is terminally ill. Love here is young, fading, imagined, lost, all of it squeezed into five-minute pieces.
Producers Emmanuel Benbihy and Claudie Ossard built the film as a declaration to the city told through twenty directorial voices. The result is a mosaic in which Paris stops being a postcard and becomes the one character shared by all eighteen stories. Stream Paris, je t'aime (2006) online on iFILM.
