Synopsis
The Snake (Le serpent, 2006) is a French thriller by Éric Barbier worth watching online if you like a noose that tightens slowly. Successful fashion photographer Vincent Mandel bumps into an old schoolmate, private detective Joseph Plender. The reunion looks friendly. It wasn't.
From there Vincent's life comes apart piece by piece — a false accusation, a marriage in freefall, the threat of losing his children, and the creeping sense that someone unseen is pulling the strings. Yvan Attal plays the prey who grasps the rules far too late, while Clovis Cornillac is the cold, methodical hunter; Pierre Richard and Olga Kurylenko appear in support. Barbier builds the dread not through chases but through the patience with which one man takes another's life apart bolt by bolt. The payoff lands where you don't expect it.
