Synopsis
Ernest & Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia (2022) is a hand-drawn animated feature you can watch online on iFILM. Ernest the bear and Celestine the mouse set off for his homeland to mend a cracked violin.
Gibberitia is famous as the land of the world's finest musicians. So it stings when the pair arrive to find music outlawed for years — everyone gets exactly one permitted note and nothing more. For Ernest, who can't picture a day without melody, that is unbearable. With a few new friends and a masked outlaw at their side, they set out to give the town its sound back, and to dig up why Ernest ran away all those years ago.
This French watercolor animation springs from Gabrielle Vincent's picture books and follows the Oscar-nominated 2012 original. Directors Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger keep the soft sketchbook look and layer in a bright jazz score.
