Synopsis
God Willing (Se Dio vuole, 2015) is an Italian comedy from Edoardo Falcone you can watch online on iFILM. Tommaso, a heart surgeon used to running both the operating room and his household, gets blindsided when his son announces over dinner that he wants to become a priest.
Tommaso is a committed atheist, so the news lands like a personal insult. Naturally he blames not the boy but Don Pietro, the warm, magnetic parish priest who supposedly filled his head with ideas. The surgeon starts trailing the cleric, determined to expose him as a fraud, and the deeper he digs, the more his own certainties wobble. Marco Giallini gives the father a wonderfully sour stubbornness, while Alessandro Gassmann plays the priest with a shady past and an easy grin. Laura Morante and Ilaria Spada keep the family chaos turning.
Falcone's directing debut took home the David di Donatello for best new director. The film neither mocks faith nor preaches it; it just lets a hard head bump into genuine kindness. A good pick for fans of gentle European comedy without broad slapstick. Stream God Willing (2015) online on iFILM.
