Synopsis
3-Iron (빈집, 2004) is a South Korean drama from Kim Ki-duk that you can watch online on iFILM. It's a near-silent love story whose two leads barely exchange a single spoken word across the whole film.
A young drifter named Tae-suk tapes takeout flyers over the locks of apartment doors. If a flyer is still there a day later, the owners are away — so he quietly lets himself in. He steals nothing. Instead he washes the dishes, fixes whatever's broken, does the laundry, and leaves without a trace. In one home he doesn't notice Sun-hwa at first: a bruised, silent woman kept shut in by her abusive husband. She walks out with Tae-suk, and the two start drifting from one empty house to the next.
Kim builds the entire picture out of gestures, glances and quiet, and the wordlessness makes the bond between them read sharper than any dialogue could. The film took the directing prize at the Venice Film Festival. Lee Seung-yeon and Jae Hee play the leads. Stream 3-Iron (2004) online on iFILM.
