About

Synopsis

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) — watch online on iFILM — is Anthony Minghella's psychological thriller built around one quietly terrifying idea: what if impersonating someone was easier than being yourself? Matt Damon plays Tom Ripley, a low-rent con artist sent to Italy to retrieve a wealthy man's drifting son.

Tom finds Dickie Greenleaf — played by Jude Law — living on sun-drenched terraces with jazz records and no obligations, and decides he'd rather steal that life than surrender it. Gwyneth Paltrow is Marge, Dickie's sharp-eyed girlfriend. Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman circle the edges, asking the questions Tom can't afford to answer. Each lie demands another. The cost climbs fast.

Adapted from Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel, the film earned a BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay. Minghella shoots the Italian landscape as a trap — beautiful enough to die for, and Ripley nearly does. Stream The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) in full on iFILM.
