The Bridge (Bron/Broen, 2011) is a Swedish-Danish crime series you can watch online on iFILM. The power cuts out halfway across the Øresund Bridge, and when the lights snap back on, a woman's body lies across the lane markings, dead center on the border between two nations.

Her head is in Sweden, her legs in Denmark. So whose case is it? Swedish detective Saga Norén and Danish inspector Martin Rohde are forced to run the investigation as a pair. Saga reads a crime scene like no one else, yet she barely reads people: she says exactly what she thinks and misses every joke and every kindness aimed at her. Martin is her opposite, warm and impulsive and quick to bend a rule. The deeper they dig, the clearer it gets that the killer staged this corpse as the opening move in a much larger scheme.

Sofia Helin's Saga became one of Nordic noir's defining characters, set against cold gray water, neon spans and a slow tightening dread. The format spawned American, French-British and Russian-Estonian remakes, but none match the original's grip. Stream every season of The Bridge online on iFILM.
