Synopsis
Patton Oswalt: Annihilation (2017) is a stand-up special you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait — 66 minutes recorded months after Oswalt's wife, crime writer Michelle McNamara, died unexpectedly in April 2016.
He didn't cancel the tour. He went on stage with a seven-year-old daughter at home and tried to figure out how to be funny while grieving in public. The set covers Trump-era absurdity, the mechanics of loss, and what it means to keep showing up when the person you were going home to is gone. The show doesn't pretend the pain resolves. Audiences laughed anyway — because Oswalt didn't insulate them from what he was actually going through.
