It’s the Law

It's the Law (L'ora legale, 2017) is an Italian comedy you can watch online on iFILM. A drowsy Sicilian town finally votes out its crooked old mayor and hands the office to an honest newcomer who promises to clean house and run everything strictly by the book.

The catch comes fast. People voted for honesty, but living under it is another matter. Once the new mayor really does scrap the favors, fine every small infraction and shut down the usual loopholes, the very voters who elected him start pining for the comfortable old bribes. Salvatore Ficarra and Valentino Picone, Sicily's beloved comic duo, both direct the film and star in it.

It runs a tight eighty-eight minutes of gentle but pointed satire about double standards and the local fondness for bending the rules. The humor is very Sicilian, yet it travels anywhere. One for fans of homegrown Italian comedy. Stream It's the Law (2017) online on iFILM.
