Synopsis

The show braids three lives together. Viola Davis plays Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer takes on Betty Ford, and Gillian Anderson becomes Eleanor Roosevelt. Jumping across eras, it traces how each woman arrived in Washington, held a family together under constant press scrutiny, and pushed her own causes — from women's rights to addiction recovery. The cast also includes Kiefer Sutherland, Aaron Eckhart, Dakota Fanning and Ellen Burstyn.
Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier, an Oscar winner for In a Better World, directs all ten episodes of the first season.
