Synopsis
Eric (2024), Season 1 is a Netflix detective drama you can watch online on iFILM — six episodes set in grimy 1980s New York, where a children's TV puppeteer loses his nine-year-old son on the walk to school.
Vincent, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, latches onto one idea: if he builds Edgar's monster, a towering blue creature named Eric, and puts it on his show, the boy will come home. He doesn't get better from there. He drinks, alienates his crew, and starts talking to a seven-foot puppet as if it answers back. Running alongside him, Detective Ledroit follows a colder trail — missing kids, a sleazy nightclub, a precinct that would rather look away. The two stories tighten across the season.
Writer Abi Morgan keeps this less a whodunit than a study of guilt and a man coming apart. Cumberbatch plays him prickly and hard to like, and that's the point. Stream Eric Season 1 online on iFILM.
