Cassandra Bowden wakes up in a Bangkok hotel, badly hungover, with a dead man beside her and almost no memory of the night before. Instead of calling the police, she cleans up and flies on as if nothing happened. FBI agents are waiting for her back in New York. The harder Cassie tries to reconstruct that night, the more she fears she might be the killer herself. Her main confidant is an imagined version of the dead man, Alex (Michiel Huisman), arguing with her inside her own head.

Adapted from Chris Bohjalian's novel, the show rides on Cuoco's jittery, comedy-tipping performance, which earned her an Emmy nomination. The editing keeps cutting between reality, blackouts and hallucination. Perfect if you like tangled stories built around an unreliable lead.
